Shane Cameron was one of New Zealand’s best boxers, a New Zealand heavyweight champion, Pan Pacific title-holder and Commonwealth Games bronze medalist who retired from boxing in 2014 with a professional record of 29 wins and five losses.
Despite leaving school at the age of 13 he has built a successful business career post-boxing focusing on the health and well-being sector.
We chart his journey from the tiny village of Tiniroto, near Gisborne all the way to sparring the “baddest man on the planet” Mike Tyson, the Fight of the Century with David Tua, and his world title shot against Danny Green after cutting 16kgs in three months.
After boxing Shane has been a regular on the small screen in Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Treasure Island. Raw, open and honest with some knockout stories despite only picking up the sport seriously at the age of 20.
