The Oklahoma City Thunder are expected to open the cheque book in a big way to keep hold of Steven Adams.

Leading NBA journalist Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the Thunder's engaged with Adam's reps on rookie extension talks, with sources suggesting he's in for a US$100 million deal.

Depending on the length of the deal, either four or five years, Adams would become one of the highest paid centres in the league.

He's currently paid $4.3 million a year.

The deadline for the two parties to agree terms is tomorrow.

If Steven Adams doesn't sign a rookie contract extension by tomorrow, he'll become a restricted free agent at the end of the NBA season.
