Former All Blacks hooker Andrew Hore has been bracketed on the Otago bench for tomorrow's Mitre 10 Cup Championship final against North Harbour.

Starting hooker Sam Anderson-Heather is awaiting a fitness test on a calf injury.

Reserve hooker Sekonaia Pole will start with Hore to come off the bench should Anderson-Heather not be deemed fit.

Coach Cory Brown said Sam Anderson-Heather is struggling with injury and he wasn't able to get Liam Coltman released from the All Blacks.

Brown said they don't have a lot of experience at hooker so he rang Hore and asked him if he'd be keen.

He said Andrew Hore told him he's fit enough and interested. Brown said there's a 90 per cent chance Hore will play.

Otago is hosting its first national provincial championship final since 1998, the year Andrew Hore made his debut for the province.
