Ever stood up after you've done the number two's and had a cheeky look at what you deposited, to then wonder what you ate that made it that particular shade of colour?

Don't act like you haven't.

Next time you'll know, because here's a guide to what the colour of your poop is saying about your health:

Light or dark shade of brown: If your deposits are this colour and in the shape of a small log, then you can breathe easy because this is what you want to be aiming for. Anything other than these features could mean you're not eating or drinking the right stuff.

Green: If your poo is coming out a greeny colour, it means that the food you've eaten is moving through the large intestine too quickly, which can be a result of noshing down on plenty of vegetables, particularly those greens.

Yellow: If your number two's are more yellowly, and coming out at higher speeds, then this is down to the fat in your diet.  If there is consistently a yellow tinge, then it could actually be a medical concern, so it's best to speak to a health professional.

Light in colour/clay colour: This is caused by certain medications you've been taking.

Black or really dark brown: This shade is caused by dried up blood in the upper stomach. Alternatively, you could have just eaten a lot of licorice.

Red/blood in the toilet bowl:  This means there's fresh blood mixed in with your poo, which can come from hemorrhoids or bleeding in the intestines or rectum. Best to seek medical advice.

Knowledge is power.
