It was a moment that will go down in history as one of the biggest sporting upsets of all time, while simultaneously being a perfect reason to throw the biggest party the little nation has ever seen.
And it turns out the little Nordic nation of 300,000 kept the party going long into the night.
It has been nine months since that wonderous victory over the Poms on the French Riviera and there are reports of an increased birth rate.
Apparently last weekend, there was a record breaking amount of epidurals (a lower back anesthetic injection common at childbirth) administered.
It's going to be interesting to see how many of these Icelandic children are named after their nation's hero, kolbeinn Sigþórsson.
