Pearl Jam debuted a new touring lineup this past weekend featuring a three-pronged array of guitarists.

Representatives for the band confirmed that former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has indeed joined Pearl Jam in a touring capacity.

Klinghoffer was a member of RHCP from 2009 - 2019, when he was dismissed to make way for a reunion with John Frusciante, the man he replaced a decade earlier.

The September 18 set at the Sea.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park, NJ, was Pearl Jam's first live performance since VAX LIVE in the spring (where Klinghoffer also appeared) and its first proper tour date since 2018.

The band drew heavily from its 2020 studio album, Gigaton, in its setlist, while also playing the hits and honoring the memories of late-Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts and late-comedian Norm Macdonald.

The encore consisted of covers of Bruce Springsteen's "My City of Ruins" and Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World." Klinghoffer reportedly provided additional guitars, percussion and backing vocals for the entire performance.
