After years of speculation since its 2009 release, a Zombieland sequel is finally set to take place.

At CinemaCon in Las Vegas last week, Sony delivered a sneak peek of the new logo for the cult comedy's second big-screen installment, confirming that the film is in the works.

According to a report from The Independent, the logo featured the same typeface as the original film, but with the added number.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Zombieland's plot centred around a group of misfits travelling through a zombie-infested America to reach an amusement park.

The indie film starred Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin.

Bill Murray made an infamous cameo in the film where the actor starred as himself.

Details are scarce for the long-awaited sequel, but Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick are set to return to the writing chair, juggling their duties with penning theDeadpool sequel.

Godzilla writer Dave Callaham is also on board, while Fleischer will return for directorial duties.
