Massive Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood's dying wish to see the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens film before he dies has been granted.

He was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in July and was given two months to live.

Although having lived beyond expectation but with his health deteriorating, Fleetwood was worried he wouldn't make it to the upcoming film's release.

So his family created a viral campaign to get him to see the film before its release.

Then this week, his wife, shared on Facebook that the creators of the series Disney and Lucasfilm had visited their home with a copy of the film.

"Daniel just finished watching an unedited version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens," she wrote.

"We would like to thank the awesomely talented JJ Abrams for calling us yesterday to tell us Daniel was getting his wish granted ... I want to thank ALL the amazing people who helped make this happen, thank you beyond words.

"May the force be with you all."
