HBO has finally announced that the final season of its hit series Game of Thrones will launch this coming April.

The long-awaited news was announced in a clip released by HBO, which teased all the series' twists, turns and power moves will come to head in one final showdown with the White Walkers.

The video did not offer a specific date in April, however it does give fans a reprieve from the "will they won't they" wondering whether the show will return in 2019, following multiple date changes and push backs.

It'll be especially welcome news after season 7 saw fans have to wait until July for the new season, when all the prior seasons had dropped in April or late March.

While this is the eighth and final season of the show, HBO has already announced multiple projects set in the Thrones universe which means even after everything's all wrapped up, fans will still have something to look forward to.
