The Friends cast will reunite on NBC for a two-hour special, NBC announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena.

The reason behind the reunion is as a tribute to comedy director James Burrows, who also helmed series such as 'Taxi', 'The Bob Newhart Show' and 'Cheers'. Burrows recently shot his 1,000th episode of television.

The special is mainly about Burrows' career but the Friends reunion has obviously created a massive buzz! All six original cast members — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer — are on board.

“I’m hoping all six will be in same room at same time, I’m not sure we can logistically can pull it off,” NBC chief Robert Greenblatt told reporters. Efforts to have them all in the same place at the same time has proven difficult in the past.
