Goodnight Nurse - All Hail the Serpent Queen

Goodnight Nurse are back, bringing to an end their ‘indefinite hiatus’ that lasted over thirteen years and saw the band members branch out to forge incredibly successful music industry careers of their own - as Grammy-winning music producers, record company executives and recording artists whose own projects have become far more successful than Goodnight Nurse ever were.

Not to say that Goodnight Nurse weren’t a successful band - their nine year career saw them play hundreds of shows across NZ and Australia, and release two NZ Top 5 albums and five NZ Top 40 singles.

“Even after all this time, I still get messages from people asking if Goodnight Nurse will ever get back together,” says lead singer Joel Little, who has gone on to write and produce hit songs with artists such as Taylor Swift, Lorde, Khalid and Imagine Dragons.

Reconnecting as friends, after being on their own paths for so many years, led to reminiscing about the good old days, and helped remind the band members why they got in to music in the first place.

“We started making music to have fun with our friends, and just for the simple joy of doing it,” says drummer Jaden Parkes, now one of the lead singers of hugely popular band Leisure, and longtime Head Of A&R at Sony Music NZ. “Playing these songs live again takes you right back to that feeling.”

Don’t get too hopeful for a full blown Goodnight Nurse reunion though - at this stage the support slot for My Chemical Romance is a one-time thing. The band currently have no further shows planned.
